Filmstrip view Filmstrip Grid view Grid Two months after releasing their spring collection, Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett have already followed up with their next offering for their funky brand. “I guess we’re calling it part two,” said Sales over FaceTime from Rome. “Again, it was working with the wallpaper scrapbook that we found in the Powerhouse Museum Archive, which is where our office is, and just extending it on from there.” Also, if spring was a bit more formal, this next set of looks is a bit more party—though neither are quite casual, despite the fleeting glimpse of denim.
Embroidery and jacquard continue to take center stage. Throughout the entire collection, there is no solid-colored, unadorned piece. A mock-neck striped button-down is spruced up by dangling flora while wispy feathers continue to circle hemlines, collars, and cuffs. Black and navy lace added a bit of edge, whether used as a floral embroidered dress with a slit up the front or the more demure trim on a funky green vintage-inspired set.
Sales noted that these last two collections only scratch the surface of the lengthy antique wallpaper book, and the brand’s dedicated wearers can expect to see much more textile development in the coming year. “I just think when we do something, we have so many ideas and it’s so hard to condense them all into one collection, and it’s nice to be able to spread it out and take our time with something and really explore it and really see it all through,” he said.
